Dear diary,
I haven't written in this thing in so long! I have been so busy with my paintings and all the clients. I find endless inspiration since Ecosia docks in so many places. Painting seagulls and the ocean are fun but I really love the cities we come across. The diverse cultures keep me awake painting and painting and painting! All the traveling also helps me sell my paintings. Though I have regular customers in Ecosia, my client list grows every time I show my paintings in different cities. I think I may have to refuse some art requests soon because Logan is heading to elementary school next week. I need to concentrate on my son during this big change in his life. Logan is so excited to go to a new school. His tuition-free preschool was fully equipped with new educational toys and well-trained teachers but there is nothing like going to, as Logan calls it, "real school". Oh I almost forgot to mention Ben! Ben has decided to go to Harvard and he told me the Ecosian government granted him a full scholarship. I'm very excited for him but at the same time, I'm going to miss my son...

Bella's letter
Dear David,
I heard about the seperation with Delia. I know it must be tough with the divorce and finding out your sister up and left New York without a word. I never meant to leave without telling any of you. I just got so sick of living in all that smog and noise that when Ecosia docked...I just got on. It's really great here! I finally feel like I can breathe! I found a job quickly and I already have a nice apartment with a scenic view. The huge window in my living room gives me breathtaking views. The best part about that window is that the scenes change everyday since Ecosia moves! Not only that, I get fresh carrots, turnips, potatos, and apples from my personal little garden. I can grow my favorite foods in that garden. David, your mind seems really muddled according to the report I got from mom. she says you just sleep all day in your room and eat delivered pizza whenever you get hungry. That doesn't sound anything like you! I think you really need a fresh start so why don't you come join me? You can get on in two weeks at New York according to the schedule! I'm sure some fresh air will clear your mind up! If you come live with me, I will even plant some pea plants(you know how much I hate peas). You can burn off all that pizza-eating fat at the gym as well! The gyms are amazing here! They use the machines to generate energy to move Ecosia around with the gyms. I'm sure after you get back in shape, you can move Ecosia half way around the world in just one work out session! Anyway, why don't you consider it? There are plenty of pretty girls in Ecosia once you feel like looking again.
Miss you,
Bella

Patrice's Diary
Ecosia is such a marvelous city. I wake up in the morning such a lovely sight of sun shine on the many vibrant flowers that bloom on our beautiful city. The parks, orchards, and gardens together look like another Eden. After waking up around seven in the morning, I have a thirty minute workout and start on making breakfast for my husband and children. I feel so good knowing that what I cook is nutritious for my family and that the produce I use is all organic and pesticide free, I should know my lovely neighbors and I grew them all in our community garden and mini orchard. I only need to go to the butcher, bakery and creamery once a week and that's all the shopping I have to do. As the kids head off to school and my husband to work I set about doing the household chores and around eleven start heading over to work in my electric/hydro powered car. I would arrive at home around four and start making dinner for my husband and kids. They would arrive just in time around half past five and we all sit down for dinner. Afterwards I would pop the dishes into the dishwasher and as John and I head over to the den, Annie and Joe would go to do their homework. On the weekends, I have the choice of going to the gym, the spa, yoga classes, or pilates classes. Let's not forget the huge shopping mall with all the latest styles and trends. Ecosia is a mobile city and thus this is very possible. This city has it all. It is environmentally friendly, all the while with all the latest clothes, electronics and the works. I should have moved here earlier, life is totally great here.
Joe's Journal
It is fun living in Ecosia. I go to school at 8:30 have lunch around 12:30 and get off at 4:30. The teachers are really nice and the playground is huge. At school everyone gets to choose what classes they want, when they want it, and with whom they want it with. We have two state of the art computer labs that are run on last week's lunch. Did I mention that everyone has their own PDA/Cell phone like device (We call it PCD) that runs on solar energy? All the kids get one when we get into school. We have mandatory gym everyday for three hours, but that's alright. I just plug my PCD in and it gets recharged as I work out. On the weekends, I could either go to the gym to meet with my friends to see who can run the most, go to the movies, or the arcade store. Since Ecosia is a Mobile city, the movie theater has all the latest movies from around the world. Not to mention that if I wanted to buy the latest videogame I don't have to wait for it to be released in my country because I can just get it when Ecosia travels to that country. How cool is that! Too bad for all the other gamers, they have to wait for it to be released where they live. Ecosia's such a good place to live in.
Bob's Journal
Today I woke up to the beautiful Antarctic ice, a stark contrast from yesterday's Caribbean sunrise. I headed to my garden to do my morning stretches, as well as pick a potato from my garden for breakfast. The fries from those fast food places don't even come close to my organic hash. After that delicious fast breaking, I got ready to go to work. I took the scenic ride on the EMS towards EEC3. I'm always captivated by how well the flowers grow in the city. We Ecosians really have mastered the beauty of the earth. At EEC3, I walked past the exercise facility to the energy facility. There was a larger turnout of exercisers today, probably trying to get their quotas done early. With a larger turnout we gained a lot more electricity today, enough to power the whole district for a few days! After work I decided to finish one of my exercise hours since it was a convenient 50-foot walk. After that workout, I headed home to check on my garden. The pomegranates are starting to grow! I picked some lettuce to make a salad for dinner and headed back inside. After dinner I sorted the garbage to appropriately recycle it. I am still amazed how every bit of trash is converted into energy to help fuel the city. After the short task, I relaxed with a good book. Now I am here writing in my journal, reminiscing on my productive day for Ecosia. These journal entries really help me to appreciate the wonder of this great city and help me realize that I truly am living in a utopia.

The sea turtle is a great choice for our Utopian animal because it has always been endangered by careless energy conversions and cooling systems. Water is pumped into towers to cool nuclear energy and the left-over hot water is then deposited back into the ocean where it causes thermal pollution, changing the temperature of the water greatly. Because of the high increase in water temperature, sea turtles are at risk of over-exposure to heat. Ecosia strive to create a more energy efficient and less environmental damage way of converting energy. With the sea turtle as our beloved animal, we will always remember our purpose and continue to work even harder.
You're Invited!
Hello there! Don't you hate breathing that awful city air? I know I do. That's why I moved to Ecosia, the best place on earth. We get to travel the world AND save it at the same time. This is possible because our fair city is a floating utopia. Yes, Ecosia is a large mobile city that travels on the high seas. We get to trade for foreign goods and experience the unique cultures of the world.
How are we saving the world, you ask? We get to do all these awesome green projects to protect the environment. For instance, all our trash is converted to electrical energy. My computer is being run on last week's dinner as we speak. Also, I get to go to the gym for FREE. I workout AND create energy with all the exercise machines there. It's really cool and nifty how they can combine exercise and energy production. I pump up the city and I feel pumped. That's right.
All the food is organic and and we have an endless supply of fresh seafood. Yum!
Our government is a democracy with many rights and freedoms. Our motto is "Live free, live clean." If this sounds like heaven, you should come and join us!

Declaration of Independence
The issue of global warming and depletion of fossil fuels have plagued all the walls of the U.S. media. Yet, the U.S. consumes about 40% of the fossil fuels, even though we only contain about 25% of the world's population. Although there are oil reserves in the U.S and Canada which can last us for another 300 years only if we continue to use it at our current rate, the non-renewable resource is causing destruction to the earth's environment. But as the population grows, the increase of energy consumption rises. The U.S. keeps energy cost artificially low disregarding the cost of extraction, processing and clean-up. For coal to be converted to electricity, it must first be extracted from the earth. Mining erodes topsoil that take more than hundreds of years to form. The topsoil is the most fertile for agriculture, and as we continue erode more, the soil is depleted of its nutrients and the crop yield is decreased, which causes a less abundant harvest. Mining also leads to the leeching of toxic materials into the earth's soil and water supply, which can also cause degraded crop yields and foods that are hazardous to humans and animals. The liquefaction of the coal takes a large amount of water, which is then burned to create heat. The burning of coal releases carbon dioxide, sulfur and nitrates into the environment. All of these are greenhouse gases which can then increase the greenhouse effect of warming the earth. Sulfur and Nitrates can also combine to form acid precipitation, which results in acid deposition into the earth's soil causing a decrease in vegetation. Although electricity has made life more comfortable and convenient, but it is at the cost of our Mother Earth.
The U.S. emphasizes most of its attention to pollution clean-up, which is more costly than pollution prevention. Wasteful use of energy due to its low price increases the amount of fossil fuels mined and processed, which produces more clean-up and an increase in the depletion of non-renewable resources. Ecosia was created on part of an attempt to save the environment and a community where everyone can feel good about the energy they use and the teamwork they engage in to bring to the earth, solutions to a better future.
